The Liminal + the Literary

It is one thing to be moved by deep knowing, a flash of insight, or overwhelming emotion. But it can be another thing to translate dream-like symbols or newfound awareness to the page. But leaps in consciousness can be written.

How do you make sense of mysterious moments? What role do they play in your stories?

Ancestral Wisdom

Indigenous cultures around the world recognize our integral relationship with the natural world and with ancestors who have passed on. The voice of Grandmother, Hawk or Tree are as vital as any living being.

How do you access this wisdom? And how do you weave it into your writing?

The Heart of Your Story

The craft tools of writing are so satisfying to use when you understand what they are and how and when to use them. They help you to unpack potent moments, both in your life and on the page.

What are the elements of a story arc? What moments from your life are needed to write an unforgettable story?

Give yourself the gift of time.

Learn to listen your ancestors.

Write from the heart of your story.

Quiet Your Mind. Connect Deeply. Write.

Our daylong writers retreat has been thoughtfully crafted to nourish your being, support your writing and foster deep connection. Spend the day with a circle of writers as we explore the stories that have shaped who we are, who we are becoming and where our knowing comes from. In our retreat you will learn:

  • Indigenous practices from a Lakota lineage holder to connect with your ancestors.

  • Mindful awareness and creativity exercises that help you to work with obstacles and tap into the wisdom that gives you courage to share your deepest knowing.

  • The anatomy of liminal and life-changing moments and how they relate to our story.

  • The Structure of Story that will help to snap your writing into shape.

  • How to draft a working outline that will keep you writing after class is over.

Tune into yourself and inspiration

Hi, I’m Kristin Kaye!

My twenty+ years as an award-winning author, ghostwriter and book coach has spanned coasts and industries—from theater in New York and writing interactive TV pilots in San Francisco during the tech boom to completing an MFA/MA in Creative Nonfiction. I have penned a few books along the way: Iron Maidens: The Celebration of the Most Awesome Female Muscle in the World (Avalon/ Thunder’s Mouth Press), Tree Dreams: A Novel (Spark Press) and a forthcoming book, True Wealth: The 7 Essentials of Aligned Living, written with Matt Ludmer.

But when my life as an author and ghostwriter combined with being a meditation teacher, something really interesting happened. I gained intimate access into our very human stories. This is what I teach in all of my workshops, which I’ve had the privilege to share at schools, colleges and organizations across the U.S. I hope to see you in class! Learn more at Kristin Kaye.
